Chapter President Message
As we wrap up 2024, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of the ISC2 Central Gulf Coast Chapter. Together, we’ve made great strides in fostering a strong cybersecurity community. However, over the past year, we have noticed a decline in participation of our virtual events. To better serve our members, Chapter Leaders decided it is best to shift focus on hosting more in-person events in 2025. We will also actively collaborate with local cybersecurity groups, such as NolaSec, BRsec, SWLA Cyber Club, DEFCON Acadiana, and NELATEK, to strengthen the cybersecurity community in our regions. Additionally, we aim to deepen our engagements with academic and industry partners to support professional growth and knowledge sharing.
To kick off the new year, we’re thrilled to announce our first event of 2025: a partnership with NolaSec for "What the Hack: State of Security - Insights, Threats, and Strategies." This engaging discussion, led by Jim Johnson from Arctic Wolf, will be held on January 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM at NOLA Brewery. Registration details are included below—don’t miss this valuable opportunity to connect and learn!
We are also excited to share that the ISC2 CGC Chapter has officially partnered with The Tulane University School of Professional Advancement (SoPA). This collaboration will create new opportunities to support learning and professional growth in our community. As part of this partnership, ISC2 CGC Chapter members will enjoy a significant discount on SoPA courses for continuing education. Stay tuned for more information on how to take advantage of this benefit.
Additionally, we are always looking for volunteers to support Chapter activities. Whether you’re interested in presenting at an event, helping to secure sponsors, coordinating logistics, or updating our social media, your contributions make a huge difference. If you can give just a couple of hours a week, it would be greatly appreciated—and here’s the best part: we’ll waive your Chapter membership fees for the year as a token of our gratitude for your support.

The Sensuous Sounds Of INFOSEC
The Sensuous Sounds Of INFOSEC podcast is hosted by a great friend to the ISC2 GCG Chapter, Ben Malisow.
Ben is the creator and lead instructor for the WannaBeA brand of certification preparation material (wannabeacissp.com), and has worked in the fields of education/training, communication, information technology, and security, and/or some combination of these industries, for over twenty-five years. He has provided information security consulting services and training to a diverse host of clients, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Department of Homeland Security (at TSA), and the FBI. He has also served as an Air Force officer, after graduating from the Air Force Academy.

The Digital Do-Gooders have allowed us (CyberTronic Solutions staff) to continue to record their adventures and tell their inspirational stories complete with encrypted messages, layered security awareness nuggets of wisdom, tools, and more. They continue to encourage us to share with the ISC2 and greater Cybersecurity community.

To move with the rebranding, the new strategy is to push encrypted hints each month, and a larger 3-6 page adventure each quarter, building to a complete novel release each year where the quarter releases actually work inside of the novel.
